Why does the refill maker matter if the slip still says 50 mcg?
Narrow therapeutic index means small absorption shifts can move TSH at the same printed microgram. The INN did not change. The tablet did.
This is the habit page. The day a swap already happened is the brand-switch scan.
The new oval is a different color. Is that a new dose?
Color is not a dose. Brand 50 mcg is white and round, marked SYNTHROID and 50. Generics may look nothing like that disc. Do not retitle a tablet because the shade looks close to 75.
Feeling different in week one is common after a color change. It is not a labelled titration interval.
How do you ask the counter to keep the same maker?
Name the NDC or the manufacturer on the last bottle. Ask whether the next fill will match. If it will not, treat the next TSH as a 6 to 8 week event, same empty clock.
Coverage can force a swap. That is still a lab event, not a reason to eat with the new oval.
What does 'one live bottle' actually mean?
One active strip, one clock, one name on the lab slip. Endocrine writes 88 and surgery leftover says 100 is the same error with two strengths. Do not invent a home average.
A 50 mcg lock on this site assumes you are not quietly adding a second strip. Synthroid 50 mcg panel is the longer panel if two specialists left two bottles.
Pharmacy auto-refills keep resurrecting an old NDC. What then?
Cancel the dead NDC the week the new one starts. Two live 50 mcg bottles are two products and no readable strip.
Ask the pharmacist to lock the maker you and the prescriber agreed to, or to write dispense as written if brand is the plan.
If I keep the same maker, can I skip the 6-12 month review?
No. A settled maker still wants clinical and biochemical review every 6 to 12 months, or sooner if status changes. The stable-months scan is that later clock.
Same maker plus a dirty breakfast is still an underdose. empty-stomach signal stays the swallow.
