Does age 65 change daily Cialis 2.5-5 mg by itself?

Last reviewed · 3 min read · Updated

Bone review card, cobalt edge, lime chip: brass saucer, same daily tablet, no cut mark

No automatic cut. Age 65 alone does not change the Daily Cialis 2.5 or 5 mg line. Healthy men 65 and older had about 25% higher AUC and no change in Cmax versus men 19 to 45. Trials saw no overall efficacy or safety split that would warrant a dose change based on age alone. Kidneys, nitrates, and CYP inhibitors still can.

What 'no adjustment based on age alone' actually holds

About a quarter of tadalafil trial subjects were 65 and over. About 3% were 75 and over. No overall differences in efficacy or safety showed up versus younger subjects, so no dose adjustment is warranted based on age alone.

That sentence does not retire the rest of the label. Clearance under 30 still turns daily use off. Ketoconazole still holds daily use at 2.5 mg. The tadalafil panel keeps those rows.

Stimulation and the same hour do not retire at 65

Daily plasma is still not an erection. Sexual stimulation is still required. The swallow still belongs at about the same time each day. Age does not convert 5 mg into a scheduled event.

Partners who hear 'always on' after a 65th birthday need the same sentence as everyone else. The stimulation scan holds that job.

The 25% higher AUC in healthy elderly men

Healthy male subjects 65 years or over had a lower oral clearance, resulting in 25% higher exposure with no effect on Cmax relative to healthy subjects 19 to 45. That is a pharmacology note, not a hidden order to open every 70-year-old at a homemade 1 mg.

Greater sensitivity to medications in some older individuals should still be considered. That is the label's hedge after the 'no cut' line. It is not a second dosing table.

Birthday does not replace the clearance number

A 68-year-old with CrCl 28 is a kidney stop, not an age stop. A 52-year-old with the same number is the same stop. Bring the lab. The kidney scan is that room.

A 71-year-old with CrCl 70 and no nitrate can still sit on the ordinary daily 2.5-then-5 ladder. Do not skip 2.5 only because a forum said 'older men need 20.'

Seventy-five was a thin slice of the file

Three percent at 75 and over is not a large elderly-elderly file. Yuki Tanaka will not invent a special 75+ daily rung. The clinician still has standing pressures, the med list, and the last creatinine.

Falls risk plus an alpha-blocker plus daily 5 mg is a hypotension stack, not an age tax. See the alpha scan if tamsulosin is already on the breakfast tray.

What this age scan will not replace

Nitrate walls, riociguat, priapism past four hours, and sudden vision or hearing change. Those clocks do not loosen because the patient has a senior transit pass. Page cites: [email protected].

BPH at 5 mg daily is an indication, not an age gift. Stream symptoms still need their own visit note. Do not open 5 mg solely because the patient is 67 and 'might have a prostate.'

Craig I., Newmarket Dad is 78 and on a nitrate spray. Daily 2.5 mg anyway?

Board reply

Nitrates close tadalafil at any age and any daily milligram. The age row never overrides that wall. See the nitrate scan.

Hugo D., Lawrence Park I am 72. Should daily Cialis start at 2.5 mg just because of age?

Board reply

Age alone does not cut the line. Daily ED still opens at 2.5 mg for most men. 72 is not a separate rung. Kidneys and CYP inhibitors can still hold or stop the clock.

Asha P., Malvern Does the 25% higher AUC mean 5 mg is too much after 65?

Board reply

The label did not write a lower daily ceiling from that 25%. It wrote no adjustment based on age alone, then asked clinicians to remember sensitivity. Your own list still decides.
